Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Lean on God, not on your own understanding, and He will make your path clear.
Facing a decision and not sure which way to go? The Bible promises that God guides people who ask Him: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God” (James 1:5). Here is a verse for guidance today.
A verse for you
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Lean on God, not on your own understanding, and He will make your path clear.
KJVTrust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Lean on God, not on your own understanding, and He will make your path clear.
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
God promises to teach you the way to go and guide you with His eye.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
If you lack wisdom, ask. God gives generously and without scolding.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
God’s word is a lamp for the next step and a light for the road ahead.
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
When you turn right or left, you will hear: this is the way, walk in it.
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
You make the plans, and the Lord directs the steps.
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
A prayer for direction: show me Your ways, Lord, and lead me in Your truth.
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Call to God and He will answer and show you things you did not know.
God’s guidance in Scripture usually comes step by step, not as a full map. Psalm 119:105 calls His word “a lamp unto my feet”: enough light for the next step.
The Bible gives a simple order for decisions. Trust God more than your own reasoning (Proverbs 3:5). Ask for wisdom, expecting Him to give it generously (James 1:5). Make your plans, and let Him direct your steps (Proverbs 16:9).
Guidance also comes through His word, through prayer, through wise people and through peace. If you are unsure, start with the prayer of Psalm 25: “Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 is the best known: trust in the Lord with all your heart, and He shall direct your paths. James 1:5 tells you to ask for wisdom.
Through His word (Psalm 119:105), through prayer and wisdom He gives (James 1:5), and by directing our steps as we walk (Proverbs 16:9).
Psalm 25:4-5 is a prayer for direction you can pray word for word.
