The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
God is not far from a broken heart. He comes close to it.
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Spoken by Job in the depth of his loss: he still knows that his Redeemer lives and that he will see God. Handel set it in Messiah.
KJV22Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh? 23Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book! 24That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! 25For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. 28But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? 29Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
A good man loses everything and argues honestly with God, while his friends wrongly blame him for his suffering.
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
God is not far from a broken heart. He comes close to it.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing in life or death can separate you from the love of God in Christ.
He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.
A promise Paul quotes when he writes about the resurrection: God will swallow up death and wipe away tears from every face.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
A promise of a day with no more tears, death, sorrow or pain.
